About The Job
Midjourney is an independent research laboratory dedicated to exploring innovative mediums of thought and enhancing human imagination through design, human infrastructure, and artificial intelligence. Our small, self-funded team creates novel products that often lack direct precedents, making our QA approach crucial to anticipate real-world product behavior, detect issues early, and confidently deliver quality results.
Role Overview
As a QA Analyst at Midjourney, you will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers throughout the development lifecycle. This role goes beyond routine checklist execution—it requires critical thinking to understand product behaviors, tackle complex problems, enhance testing methodologies, and contribute significantly to key projects. If improving product quality and fostering confidence within your teams motivates you, this position offers that opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with product, design, and engineering teams across all development stages.
- Lead testing initiatives on prominent product efforts to ensure thorough evaluation.
- Delve into challenging issues including subtle bugs, edge case identification, expanding test coverage, and clarifying real-world product behaviors.
- Create comprehensive testing strategies to detect defects prior to user exposure.
- Enhance testing processes by implementing superior tools, automation, and best practices.
- Replicate issues, diagnose root causes, and confirm resolutions before product launches.
Preferred Qualifications
- Several years of experience testing software with real user engagement.
- Analytical mindset focused on understanding product functionality beyond basic operations.
- Proficient in investigating intricate bugs as well as evaluating complete user journeys.
- Strong collaboration skills with cross-disciplinary teams including design, engineering, and product functions.
- Commitment to quality assurance embedded throughout development phases rather than solely at release points.
- Familiarity integrating tools like Claude Code and Cursor into workflows.
- Enthusiasm for working on innovative products without established testing protocols.
- A team-focused attitude prioritizing collective success over individual ego.
Logistics and Compensation
- Position type: Full-time.
- Work arrangement: Hybrid, based in San Francisco or New York offices.
- Salary range: $100,000 to $125,000 plus benefits.
