Python EDI 837 Developer

About the Position

Health Data Max is seeking a skilled Python EDI 837 Developer to develop and maintain integration pipelines for healthcare claims processing, focusing on ANSI X12 EDI 837 transactions (837 Professional and Institutional). This role involves crafting EDI parsers, generators, and validation components within a HIPAA-compliant environment, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of claim data submissions.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and support EDI 837 parsers and generators alongside validation logic primarily using Python, with Java as an alternative.
• Perform parsing, validation, and generation of ANSI X12 EDI 837P and 837I transaction files.
• Apply business rules at loop, segment, and element levels aligned with TR3 implementation guides.
• Manage processing of 999 Functional Acknowledgments and 277CA Claim Acknowledgments efficiently.
• Develop data transformation workflows bridging EDI formats with JSON, XML, CSV, and database systems.
• Construct and validate ISA, GS, and ST envelopes as part of the transaction processing.
• Design and update MongoDB schemas tailored for healthcare claims data storage.
• Deploy solutions on Microsoft Azure and provide ongoing support.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance adherence and participate actively in code reviews using Git version control.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Proficient Python programmer with robust experience; Java expertise considered if accompanied by strong EDI knowledge.
• Direct experience working with ANSI X12 EDI 837 claims including both professional and institutional transactions.
• Proven capability in developing or maintaining EDI parsers, generators, or validation mechanisms.
• Deep understanding of EDI structures including loops, segments, elements, qualifiers, along with ISA/GS/ST enveloping standards.
• Familiarity with healthcare claim processes and HIPAA electronic data interchange regulations.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues effectively.
