Role overview

Crosscare is a registered charity and the social care agency of the Dublin Diocese. Its homelessness, youth, information, and advocacy services are delivered with a servant-leadership approach, guided by love, respect, and excellence.

This full-time permanent position is based at the Family Hub in Drumcondra and forms part of a 24-hour short-term residential service for adult men, women, and families experiencing homelessness. The aim is to support residents to move into stable long-term housing while putting in place the practical and personal supports needed to sustain that tenancy. The work is delivered in line with the DRHE Pathways Model and in close collaboration with colleagues involved in care planning and case management.

The role reports to the Team Leader, Deputy Manager, or Manager.

Working pattern and contract

This is a permanent full-time post, subject to successful completion of probation. The standard schedule is 38.5 hours per week on a 7-day rota, including evenings and weekends, with day-time coverage also required.

Salary is €39,625 to €49,205 depending on experience.

Key duties

The Project Worker will provide hands-on support to families and adults using the service, from referral through to move-on. The post involves completing assessments, identifying housing-related and additional supports, updating the PASS system, advocating for families, arranging meetings, connecting people with appropriate services, and helping families secure permanent accommodation.

The role also includes close liaison with the Housing Case Working team and the family link worker to maintain clear communication and support residents to reconnect with local communities. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing the operational needs of the family hub, such as handling referrals, welcoming and engaging families, responding to conflict and health-related issues, and supporting premises management. The role requires adherence to child protection reporting procedures, advocacy with a wide range of external agencies, teamwork, flexibility in responding to reasonable management requests, and taking the lead on one area of the support programme running in the hub.

In addition, the role requires compliance with Crosscare policies and the project’s standard operating procedures.

General duties and standards

The postholder will contribute to the quality agenda so that service standards are consistently met. Administrative tasks linked to the role must be completed carefully to keep the project operating smoothly.

Health and safety responsibilities are central to the role. The successful candidate must follow all safety policies, support continuous quality improvement, and help maintain building security at all times, including day and night cover. Essential qualifications and experience

Applicants must hold at least a BA Level 7 qualification, awarded under the QQI National Qualifications Framework, in Applied Social Care, Addiction, Mental Health, Nursing, Psychology, or an equivalent discipline.

A minimum of one year of relevant work experience with a similar client group is required, along with Child Protection Training.
