Role overview
BAM UK & Ireland is hiring a Project Quantity Surveyor in Waterford, County Waterford, to support major construction and civil engineering work. The company focuses on long-term careers, with scope to grow into different roles, build new areas of expertise, and even take on overseas opportunities.

Key duties
- Provide advice on contractual issues at both project and general level.
- Handle contractual claims and maintain the related documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve revenue, lower costs, and examine any losses.
- Support project cash flow management.
- Assist with project correspondence and commercial communications.
- Lead negotiations and agreement of subcontractors.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure final accounts are completed promptly.
- Prepare commercial and contractual correspondence in a timely manner.
- Draft subcontract and supplier documentation.
- Compile and review monthly cost reports.
- Check that risk registers, variation logs, and extension-of-time trackers are updated every month and included in reporting.
- Negotiate final accounts with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Measure and price variations.
- Negotiate variations with clients, quantity surveyors, and subcontractors.
Candidate profile
The successful applicant should hold a professional qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management and bring proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor position on medium- to large-scale construction projects. The role also calls for the ability to work effectively on large sites with high headcounts and subcontractors, plus confidence in dealing with internal stakeholders and client representatives during site meetings. Strong organisation, time management, communication, and presentation skills are essential, along with a solid understanding of construction site operations and the ability to work efficiently toward demanding targets.
