Job description
Overview
Massey University in Palmerston North is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to join its Estates Management team on a fixed 12-month contract (1 FTE, 37.5 hours per week). This role involves leading capital building projects across the campus to maintain and enhance facilities for students and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end management of capital projects ensuring timely delivery, budget adherence, and quality compliance.
- Supervision and coordination of contractors, consultants, and suppliers including contract administration.
- Ensuring all projects meet legislative, regulatory, and university standards.
- Leading project phases such as planning, risk management, progress reporting, and quality control.
- Supporting activities related to decanting, commissioning, and project handover.
- Promoting sustainability objectives, including achieving 5-Star standards through Green Building Council New Zealand.
- Fostering strong collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners.
Candidate Profile
- Relevant qualifications in Project Management, Construction Management, Architecture, or Building Services preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in construction, building services, or capital project delivery sectors.
- Sound knowledge of New Zealand Building Act, Health & Safety legislation, and preferably NZS3910 contract standards.
- Experience serving as a client representative or Engineer to Contract on projects.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Project or equivalent project management software.
- Strong communication, leadership skills and ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
- Commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and respectful engagement with diverse communities.
