Role Overview

The Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) Programme at Douglas Pharmaceuticals plays a crucial role in driving company growth and operational excellence. This programme involves upgrading manufacturing equipment, expanding facilities, and adopting new technologies to support pharmaceutical and nutraceutical operations.

We are recruiting an experienced Project Manager on a 14-month maternity leave contract to oversee and coordinate CAPEX projects across manufacturing and R&D locations. These projects include equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, facility upgrades, compliance modifications, utilities enhancements, and building new capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading multi-disciplinary teams in project planning, execution, and closure of CAPEX initiatives.
  • Managing relationships with vendors, handling procurement activities, and supervising contractor performance.
  • Ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), health and safety regulations, and other regulatory standards.
  • Collaborating closely with engineering, operations, validation, quality assurance, and finance departments to ensure smooth project integration.
  • Providing senior leadership with updates on project timelines, risks, and realized benefits.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant tertiary qualification, with a preference for engineering degrees.
  • Demonstrated success managing CAPEX projects within regulated industrial sectors such as pharmaceuticals (preferred), biotechnology, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), or nutraceuticals.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, facility design, and equipment qualification procedures.
  • Excellent capabilities in stakeholder engagement and communications.
  • A proactive and solution-oriented approach coupled with a drive for continuous improvement.
