Job Overview
This position is for a Production Labourer in the food processing sector at Soleterra d'Italia located in Acme, Alberta, Canada. The role requires working onsite in a refrigerated and clean environment within a meat processing and packaging plant. The applicant should be prepared for physically demanding work that involves standing for prolonged periods and handling loads up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
Job Responsibilities
- Handle and transport raw materials, finished goods, and packaging components.
- Operate and feed ingredients into mixing and grinding machines.
- Manually pack products into various containers including bags and boxes.
- Feed flattened boxes into machines for container formation.
- Clean machinery and maintain tidy work areas.
- Slice and wrap cooked and prepared meats.
- Set up, adjust, and unload processing and packaging equipment.
- Conduct quality control checks on products and packaging ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Maintain hygiene and sanitation following regulatory policies.
- Review and interpret work orders, plan work priorities, and meet production deadlines.
- Pack, weigh and stack final products onto pallets for shipment.
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards, internal controls, and production procedures.
Work Environment and Conditions
- Working in a cold, refrigerated setting that is very clean.
- Engagement in repetitive physical tasks requiring manual dexterity and excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Standing for extended periods with frequent bending, crouching, and kneeling.
- Work demands physical strength, endurance in a fast-paced and pressure-intensive environment.
Experience and Equipment Knowledge
- At least 1 year but less than 2 years of relevant work experience in production.
- Familiarity with machinery such as slicing machines, sausage makers, salami mixers and cookers, grinding and production machines, and safety equipment.
