Position Overview
We invite applications for a Principal Electrical Engineer to contribute to our expanding team in New Zealand, working remotely from Wellington, Christchurch, or Auckland. This role involves applying your technical design expertise to influential projects within the ANZ energy market, primarily focusing on electrical distribution and transmission. Collaboration with our Australian Energy team offers involvement in national initiatives.
Key Duties
- Conduct detailed design work for electrical networks, either in transmission or distribution sectors.
- Perform engineering calculations, studies, and technical assessments supporting substation development, asset upgrades, replacements, and distributed generation connections.
- Create and manage AutoCAD and Revit models for substation layouts, equipment positioning, and related building services.
- Engage in project scoping, cost estimation, and assist with project management and execution.
- Work collaboratively within a team and independently on assigned responsibilities.
- Partner proactively with a large Australian team of Transmission & Distribution engineers to deliver superior client and multidisciplinary team outcomes.
- Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of the New Zealand Energy division under the Director of Energy.
Candidate Profile
- Holds tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering aligned with the Washington Accord.
- Possesses Chartered Professional Engineer status (such as CPEng, RPEQ, or comparable).
- Brings 15 or more years of industry experience, especially in substations, transmission lines, or distribution.
- Demonstrates proven ability in overhead and underground distribution network design.
- Maintains an established professional network within the energy industry.
- Proficient in design tools like AutoCAD, Revit, NEARA, PLS CADD, or similar software.
- Exhibits strong communication skills, capable of engaging diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel as necessary for project and business needs.
