Role Overview
Royal Mail is hiring a Postal Delivery Driver (Postie) to work from the Skipton Delivery Office. This permanent position offers a salary of 13.68 per hour, with paid overtime available. The working week totals 37 hours, typically spread over 5 days within a 7-day cycle, including weekends, with shifts between 07:30-15:30 or 13:30-21:00. Delivery is conducted both on foot and by van within the local community, including Sunday work at the Keighley Delivery Office.
Responsibilities
- Sorting letters and parcels at the delivery office.
- Delivering mail using a Royal Mail van and on foot in assigned local delivery routes.
- Establishing positive connections with customers and communities served.
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Securely handling and delivering all items on route, including election materials and specific goods such as food and alcohol, following company standards.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of a full manual UK driving license with no more than 6 penalty points, registered to current name and address.
- Ability and willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
- Physical fitness to walk up to 12 miles daily (about 20,000+ steps), climb stairs and hills, and lift or carry mailbags weighing 10kg or more.
- Reliability, self-motivation, strong organizational skills, and resilience in fast-paced settings.
- A customer-focused mindset and pride in providing excellent service independently.

Additional Information
No CV is necessary for application; you will complete an online test followed by a face-to-face interview with a manager. Please note that roles scheduled between 35-37 hours per week are considered full-time, but contracts under 37 hours may have part-time status. This role carries responsibility for secure delivery of sensitive election materials as well as certain high-value or regulated items.
