Peer Reviewer – Petroleum Engineering

Overview

This is a long-term, steady part-time opportunity that can be performed remotely. Applicants are expected to review the requirements carefully and complete the application form with accurate information.

Required Qualifications

• A doctoral degree (PhD) or an equivalent advanced qualification in the relevant field.
• At least 5 papers published in SCI or SSCI journals during the last 3 years.
• Strong knowledge of research methods and ethical standards in the discipline.
• Strong analytical ability and sound critical judgment.
• Clear and effective written communication, including the ability to give concise and helpful feedback.
• The ability to work to deadlines and organize time efficiently.
• A strong commitment to confidentiality and impartial evaluation.
• Previous experience reviewing papers for academic journals is a major advantage.
• Comfort using online manuscript submission and peer-review platforms.

Review Duties

• Check the manuscript’s originality and its contribution of new ideas or findings to the field.
• Assess whether the research design and methodology are suitable, complete, and explained well enough for replication.
• Review whether the paper includes appropriate, current, and relevant literature references.
• Examine the presentation of results and conclusions to confirm they are clear, well supported by the data, and meaningful to the discipline.
• Offer constructive suggestions, while identifying weaknesses, missing elements, or ethical issues.
• Provide an informed recommendation on publication status, with the editor making the final decision on acceptance, revision, or rejection.
