Job Overview
The role focuses on managing product development and quality control specifically for automotive, consumer durable, and Power & Transmission (P&T) segments at JSW Steel in Pen, Maharashtra. The executive will be instrumental in strategizing, executing, governing, and enabling teams to ensure superior product standards and cost optimization.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify customer needs and develop an extensive knowledge base about products relevant to automotive, consumer durable, and P&T sectors.
- Finalize New Product Development (NPD) grades in alignment with the plant capability matrix across the specified segments.
- Monitor mechanical properties and identify areas of improvement within the automotive, consumer durable, and P&T segments.
- Formulate charters for new product grades in collaboration with PPC, CSD, and Operations teams.
- Ensure timely introduction of new product grades into the system and guide teams to prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for casting and rolling processes.
- Drive cost control initiatives by optimizing product and process design.
- Lead cost optimization projects focusing on ferro alloys and process routing.
- Participate in the development and delivery of technical papers and presentations at seminars.
- Maintain zero Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) and conduct routine safety observations, including safety skits and Safety Awareness Meeting (SAM) activities.
- Conduct product audits across all automotive grades.
- Provide training on product knowledge and current industry trends.
- Implement digitization initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency in analysis and workflow.
Educational and Professional Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in metallurgical or product quality control roles.
