Grant Thornton Ireland seeks a Payroll Specialist to join its expanding Outsourced Payroll Team in Cork. This role involves managing comprehensive payroll functions with a focus on accuracy, compliance, and client service. The successful candidate will balance technical payroll expertise with people management and leadership skills in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Administer payroll processes for multiple clients on weekly, fortnightly, and monthly schedules.
  • Coordinate the preparation and accuracy of payroll data for all client staff.
  • Execute payroll runs including generating documentation and maintaining statutory records.
  • Address day-to-day payroll and employee benefit inquiries as the primary client contact.
  • Manage other payroll-related duties as they arise.
  • Serve as payroll tax subject matter expert within the Employment Tax Team.

Required Expertise and Attributes

  • Minimum three years’ experience within a payroll bureau setting, ideally with systems like Quantum, EuropayX, and Sage Micropay.
  • Preferably holds an IPASS qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of PAYE regulations including Benefits in Kind (BIK) and PRSI.
  • Experience using ROS and electronic funds transfer processes.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Excel; an interest in AI technologies is advantageous.
  • Capability to consistently meet tight deadlines and demonstrate role ownership.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills.
  • High initiative, strong attention to detail, and a responsible work ethic.
