Position Summary
The Patient Access Scheduler is responsible for coordinating and scheduling various patient appointments including diagnostics, surgeries, therapies, physician visits, and other treatments. The role involves collecting and confirming demographic and insurance data, registering patients, and accurately inputting information into scheduling software. Working primarily in a call center environment, the incumbent is expected to meet established quality standards and embody Baptist Health's commitment to professional and friendly patient service.
Qualifications and Requirements
- High school diploma, certification, GED, training, or relevant experience.
- Successful completion of the Patient Access training program.
- Able to thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced work setting.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, teamwork, compassion, and excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Preferred: Basic medical and insurance terminology knowledge.
- Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office, EMR systems, and accurate typing.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards including HIPAA, AHCA, EMTALA, and Medicare guidelines pertaining to medical necessity compliance.
- Bilingual skills in English and Spanish or Creole are advantageous.
