About the Facility
Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health (FLBH), part of Universal Health Services (UHS), is a 182-bed treatment center located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Specializing in mental health and substance abuse treatment for youth, adults, and seniors, FLBH offers an integrated system of services including inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and ECT programs. Staff across psychiatry, nursing, social services, education, and therapy collaborate to deliver compassionate care tailored to patient needs. The facility operates 24/7 to support patient and community wellness.
Role Overview
The Patient Access Registrar position involves working Wednesday through Friday nights from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, covering three 12-hour shifts weekly. This role is based onsite at the Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center.
Responsibilities
The registrar will support the behavioral health facility’s patient access functions during night shifts, contributing to effective intake and care coordination for patients facing mental health and substance abuse challenges.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or higher preferred.
- At least one year of business office experience preferred, ideally in healthcare settings involving insurance verification and collections.
- Preferred one year experience with knowledge of mental health patient care, particularly regarding co-occurring disorders and substance dependency.
- Must possess Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification or equivalent.
- Valid Florida driver’s license (may be needed occasionally for driving a company vehicle).
- Current CPR certification required.
- Must pass competency exams within 90 days of hire.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong organizational abilities and capacity to work independently.
- Calm decision-making and stress management skills under pressure.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office tools such as Word and Excel.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to use motivational techniques effectively and solve problems consistently.
- Regular attendance and professional interaction with patients, colleagues, and families.
