We are currently seeking a knowledgeable and personable Boat Naturalist to join our team in North Miami Beach, FL.

Role Summary

The Boat Naturalist plays a crucial role in educating and engaging passengers aboard 90-minute boat tours by sharing insightful information about marine mammals, birds, and local ecology. This role also functions as the vessel's First Mate, assisting the Captain and ensuring passenger safety throughout the journey. Additional duties include pre-trip and post-trip cleaning, as well as occasional work at the cash register.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as First Mate, assisting the Captain with duties such as delivering the safety briefing before departure.
  • Provide educational presentations on Everglades Park's history and wildlife, including crocodiles, manatees, and numerous bird species.
  • Monitor passenger well-being and safety during tours.
  • Prepare and clean the boat before and after trips.
  • Commit to continuous learning about marine mammals, birds, and the Flamingo area to enhance guest education.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Partial High School education required; completion of High School Diploma or G.E.D. is preferred.
  • Background or strong interest in natural sciences is advantageous.
  • Practical knowledge of boats and experience working on open water is essential.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a proactive attitude toward assisting customers and team members.
