Position Summary
Shared Health is seeking a dedicated Messenger to support the St. Boniface Hospital's operational needs. Reporting to the Supervisor, this role is pivotal in ensuring the timely transport of various items including mail, parcels, medical reports, lab specimens, X-Ray films, pharmaceuticals, supplies, and other materials within the hospital complex and affiliated sites.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Physically handle pickup, loading, and delivery of hospital mail, reports, parcels, medical specimens, and supplies as required.
- Comply with Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) protocols when transporting hazardous materials.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of Grade 12 education or an equivalent credential.
- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Clear and legible handwriting skills.
- Professional telephone etiquette and strong interpersonal communication.
Employment Details
- Work hours: Approximately 7.75 hours per day.
- Annual hours: 2015 hours.
- Work schedule: Day shifts.
- Employment type: Full-time, on-site.
- Anticipated start date: August 12, 2026.
Compensation
The salary ranges from $19.39 to $22.40 per hour, with incremental steps at specific rates ($19.390, $19.955, $20.541, $21.141, $21.766, $22.404).
Additional Information
- This role requires successful completion of a Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check before employment. The candidate is responsible for any costs incurred for these checks, which should be recent within six months prior to employment.
