Job Summary
The Medical Science Liaison Lead (MSL Lead) plays a vital role within Medical Affairs by supporting early and accurate disease diagnosis and driving strategic initiatives across PTC's portfolio within the designated country. Acting as the medical expert, the MSL Lead represents PTC and its products to key opinion leaders (KOLs), clinicians, academic institutions, and professional organizations. This role involves addressing unsolicited medical inquiries regarding PTC’s product areas swiftly and accurately, while assessing diagnosis gaps and executing innovative programs from clinical trial phases through commercialization.
Responsibilities
- Represent PTC at national and regional medical conferences and symposia, engage with attendees, collect scientific information, and develop professional networks.
- Deliver objective, scientifically balanced clinical presentations to healthcare professionals, payors, and patient organizations in response to unsolicited information requests.
- Identify and train speakers for advisory boards and educational events using approved materials.
- Organize and execute regional medical initiatives such as advisory boards.
- Provide management insights on alternative therapies, business opportunities, risks, and client feedback.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with health authorities, KOLs, healthcare professionals, academic institutions, payors, and patient groups.
- Support timely submission of applications for educational grants or research funding per company policies.
- Remain informed of medical, regulatory, compliance, and quality standards relevant to PTC’s therapeutic areas and ensure adherence.
- Monitor competitor products and therapeutic advancements, analyze intelligence, and communicate key findings to internal stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
- An advanced degree (e.g., Masters, MPH, PharmD, M.D., or Ph.D.) in a scientific field.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience with at least 3 years as a Medical Science Liaison focusing on rare diseases or equivalent experience.
- Valid driver’s license with capability for frequent local travel and occasional long-distance travel by car or plane, dependent on territory size.
- Experience working with orphan or rare disease drugs.
- Strong customer service orientation and commitment to excellence.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills able to cultivate relationships at all professional levels.
- Team player attitude with a willingness to contribute beyond role requirements.
