Role Overview

This position is for a Mechanical Field Engineer based permanently on-site at Seatrium Sembawang Shipyard, Singapore. It involves active collaboration with construction and commissioning teams to resolve mechanical engineering challenges, coordinate corrective actions, and support multiple phases of the TenneT 2GW Offshore Platform project. The role is designed specifically for fresh graduates and offers hands-on experience in offshore high-voltage direct current (HVDC) platform engineering.

Location and Project Details

Work is based at 60 Admiralty Road West, Singapore, supporting the TenneT 2GW Offshore Platform Project. No visa, immigration, or relocation assistance is provided, therefore only Singapore locals and permanent residents can apply.

Key Duties

  • Facilitate communication and coordination between the engineering team in Europe and the site execution teams in Singapore on all mechanical engineering topics.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving site issues related to mechanical drawings, structural designs, specifications, fabrication, installation, and revisions.
  • Manage technical queries, clarifications, deviation points, and punch lists with meticulous tracking and documentation.
  • Help communicate feedback from the construction side, including mark-ups and constraints, to engineering stakeholders.
  • Work closely with engineering and fabrication teams to monitor and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure approved engineering changes are effectively applied on site aligned with project procedures and change control processes.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance, Document Control, and site teams to maintain document revision integrity and as-built records.
  • Participate in technical coordination meetings involving internal teams, subcontractors, partners, and clients.
  • Encourage and maintain safety, quality, and compliance with project and environmental health and safety standards.
  • Learn and apply GE Vernova’s processes for documentation, interface management, and engineering escalations.
  • Develop knowledge of offshore mechanical engineering topics including fabrication methods, installation techniques, testing supports, and commissioning readiness.

Candidate Profile

  • Recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering principles and familiarity with industrial project documentation.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze engineering drawings, layouts, fabrication data, and equipment specifications carefully.
  • Knowledge of document revision control, change management, and engineering interface coordination is advantageous.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to collaborate with multicultural, geographically distributed teams.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, disciplined in maintaining records and following up on action items.
  • Team-oriented, eager to learn, adaptable in a fast-moving project environment.
  • Proactive field mindset with a focus on protecting engineering intent and company interests safely.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and professionalism.

Development Opportunities

This entry-level role offers robust opportunities to build practical skills in offshore project execution, mechanical engineering coordination, and interfacing across multiple disciplines such as quality, fabrication, and commissioning. The candidate will experience:

  • Hands-on engagement with a major offshore HVDC platform development.
  • In-depth learning of engineering documentation and project change management strategies.
  • Exposure to multi-functional collaboration spanning engineering to testing phases.
  • Structured coaching, ongoing performance reviews, and project-based learning to support professional growth.
