Our client is a seasoned mechanical contracting and engineering firm renowned in British Columbia for delivering innovative building solutions. Their expertise covers HVAC, plumbing, building automation, energy services, and design-build construction for commercial, industrial, healthcare, institutional, and mixed-use facilities.
Role Overview
We seek a skilled Mechanical Estimator to become part of a dedicated and expanding team. The role involves generating precise and competitive cost estimates for diverse mechanical construction projects, such as mixed-use residential, commercial, and light industrial developments. Collaboration with project managers, suppliers, and subcontractors is vital to ensure smooth project delivery from pre-construction stages through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Generate comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for mechanical construction assignments utilizing Trimble AutoBid software.
- Analyze project drawings, specifications, and tender documents to define the scope, labor, and material needs.
- Collect and assess pricing information from suppliers and subcontractors to prepare competitive bids.
- Work alongside project managers to set up estimating timelines, budgets, and project methodologies.
- Contribute to evaluating site instructions, change orders, and adjustments in scope during the project lifespan.
- Participate in value engineering and risk analysis efforts aimed at cost optimization without compromising quality.
- Keep systematic records of estimates, bids, and related documents for reference and auditing purposes.
Qualifications and Skills
- Demonstrated experience in estimating mechanical construction projects, particularly HVAC and plumbing systems.
- Proficiency in Trimble AutoBid or equivalent Trimble estimating software.
- Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu for reviewing drawings, making markups, and managing documents.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical construction techniques, materials, and industry standards.
- Strong analytical abilities, problem-solving skills, and precision in cost estimation.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Capacity to juggle multiple estimates and prioritize work efficiently under tight deadlines within a dynamic setting.
Compensation and Location
The position offers a salary between $90,000 and $110,000 annually along with benefits. The role requires onsite presence in Burnaby, British Columbia.
