Role Overview
The Material Planner position, based at the Flowergate Factory in Sagamu, Ogun State, involves ensuring the availability of materials necessary for production plans within agreed cost limits and expected stock levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor supply signals via material planning purchase requisitions, ensuring precision in delivery dates, lead times, quantities, and creation and fulfillment of purchase orders.
- Manage material deliveries directly with suppliers, resolve invoice discrepancies, and handle exceptions such as claims management.
- Maintain stock coverage policies for each SKU within the portfolio.
- Effectively handle sourcing changes to reduce write-offs.
- Foster strong supplier relationships and engage them in supply chain improvement initiatives.
- Track supplier performance and communicate issues with suppliers and the procurement team, focusing on timely delivery, correct quantity, and quality standards.
- Collaborate with peer planners to share best practices and utilize problem-solving tools for ongoing improvements.
- Monitor vendor invoice processing and ensure timely receipt.
- Follow up with vendors on operational issues that may affect production and escalate when necessary.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on parked invoices, open purchase orders, goods receipt/invoice receipt (GRIR), and vendor evaluation scores (VES).
- Resolve blocked and parked invoices promptly, reschedule past orders, and manage payment resolutions.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma in Engineering, Social Sciences, or related fields.
- At least two years of practical experience in one or more areas within the supply chain, such as Demand and Supply Planning, Detailed Production Scheduling, Distribution Requirement Planning, or Raw and Packaging Material Requirement Planning.
- Experience with Product Lifecycle Process and/or Factory Master Data Management is advantageous.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; knowledge of Power BI and SAP is a plus.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, manage time effectively, and a service-focused approach.
