About the Role

As a Maintenance Planner at Cement Australia, based in Gladstone, Queensland, you will oversee the coordination and scheduling of maintenance activities across electrical, mechanical, and contracted workstreams. Your role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of key plant assets such as clinker kilns, mills, and other cement processing equipment by developing comprehensive maintenance plans from routine weekly tasks to extensive shutdowns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Reliability team to analyze equipment failures, update maintenance strategies, and improve planning processes to prevent recurring issues.
  • Manage maintenance backlog, review key performance indicators, ensure all equipment modifications are reflected accurately in systems and Bill of Materials.
  • Steer shutdown planning through all phases—preparation, execution, and post-activity—ensuring detailed plans are analyzed for conflicts and corrected, supported by progress metrics (S curves).
  • Work closely with Reliability Engineers, team leads, and Area Coordinators to create work scopes, execution plans, and cost estimates for significant projects.
  • Advocate for continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency, processes, and team performance.
  • Support site safety by scheduling tasks aligned with Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) KPIs, incorporating necessary SHE documentation in maintenance orders and verifying contractor compliance.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance planning within heavy manufacturing or mining industries.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance management systems and work management procedures.
  • Proficiency with SAP Plant Maintenance CMMS is highly advantageous.
  • Possession of a trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines, or an Engineering degree preferably in Mechanical or Electrical engineering.
  • Advanced competency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience in planning complex shutdowns or projects using MS Project is preferred.
  • Excellent prioritization skills and ability to handle multiple conflicting demands while collaborating with diverse stakeholders.
  • Sound understanding of budgeting processes including planning, tracking, and forecasting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable engaging with all levels of an organization.
