Mayflower Care Home operates across three specialized floors, each designed to meet the unique needs of its residents. The ground floor caters to general nursing and those living with advanced dementia, the second floor offers enhanced support for residents exhibiting more challenging behaviors requiring additional one-on-one care, and the top floor supports residents with a combination of dementia and mental health conditions presenting complex challenges.

Role Overview

The Maintenance Officer is essential in maintaining a safe, operational, and comfortable environment within the home. This practical, hands-on position involves a variety of maintenance activities such as repairs, inspections, installations, and ongoing upkeep of the building and its grounds. Regular checks ensure that equipment and systems function safely and effectively, with proactive identification and resolution of issues.

Collaborating closely with the Home Manager and other team members, you will assist in planning maintenance schedules, perform compliance inspections, and coordinate with external contractors when necessary. Adherence to health and safety protocols is paramount to uphold a well-organized and secure setting.

Compensation and Working Hours

• Hourly wage of 15.01
• Contracted for 40 hours each week, including alternate weekends as per business requirements
• Benefits include paid DBS check, pension scheme, and provision of uniform
• Annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks based on full-time employment

Qualifications and Attributes Required

• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities management, or a related field
• Competent knowledge in general repairs, electrical work, and building maintenance
• Ability to work autonomously and efficiently manage tasks
• Understanding of health and safety standards and procedures
• Proactive and practical mindset
• Dependable, well organized, and skilled in problem-solving
