Role Summary
The Logistics Manager will oversee the orchestration and oversight of material, equipment, and resource planning and delivery to support mechanical construction projects from start to finish. This position facilitates smooth supply chain operations, readiness of job sites, alignment with project timelines, budget management, and adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate delivery of materials, tools, and equipment to various project locations.
- Develop logistics strategies that align with project schedules and operational goals.
- Oversee distribution of materials to multiple sites, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitor and enhance supply chain processes to reduce delays and inefficiencies.
- Manage inventory control systems, ensuring precise tracking and reporting.
- Supervise warehouse operations including staging, storage, and organization.
- Lead shipping and receiving functions, conducting inspections and verifications.
- Ensure safe and proper material handling aligned with safety guidelines.
- Manage tool crib operations including issuance, tracking, maintenance, and accountability.
- Coordinate scheduling, use, maintenance, and return of equipment and tools.
- Arrange equipment rentals, emphasizing cost-effective use.
- Track and report on equipment and tools regarding condition, damage, or loss.
- Act as main liaison with vendors and suppliers, managing orders, deliveries, issues, and returns.
- Foster relationships with external partners and collaborate internally with project managers and operations leaders.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and internal safety policies regarding materials and equipment transport and storage.
- Support fleet safety and compliance requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive logistics documentation and generate reports.
- Track performance metrics like delivery punctuality, inventory accuracy, and cost efficiency.
- Identify and implement process and cost improvements to boost operational performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or construction operations.
- Strong organizational, planning, and analytical skills with the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with logistics and inventory software (experience with Stratus & One-Key is advantageous but not mandatory).
- Valid driver's license required.
- Preferred experience in mechanical construction or industrial settings.
- Knowledge of material handling equipment and warehouse procedures.
- Understanding construction project workflows and scheduling.
- Experience in supervisory or team management roles is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
The annual salary ranges from $80,000 to $90,000 based on experience. The role also qualifies for an annual discretionary bonus. Physical and Work Environment
The role requires regular sitting, using hands for tools and controls, walking, reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include near, distance, peripheral vision, and focus adjustments. Travel to job sites is necessary, with exposure to outdoor weather conditions, noise, dust, fumes, mechanical parts, and potential electrical hazards.
