Job Overview
The Liability Products Manager plays a key role in advising clients and ensuring accurate, timely processing of banking transactions by adhering strictly to predefined procedures. The position covers several critical responsibilities spanning business management, product development, stakeholder engagement, and risk management.
Primary Responsibilities
- Set and agree on income objectives for liabilities and retail banking products.
- Develop local pricing strategies for products, securing necessary approvals before dissemination.
- Conduct comprehensive product research, development, and deployment initiatives.
- Generate monthly tariff analyses to track revenue discrepancies and errors.
- Collaborate daily with departments such as Operations, Retail Credits, and Marketing to ensure seamless product processing and support sales efforts.
- Drive growth of product balance sheets aligned with straight-through processing (STP) targets.
- Launch product campaigns and sales activations promoting retail products.
- Plan and forecast medium-term product growth and margins.
- Regularly review product income streams in relation to balance sheet and profit & loss.
- Enhance products by improving attributes, features, and benefits.
- Create innovative, market-leading retail liability solutions along with marketing and communication strategies.
- Deliver formal product training sessions as necessary.
- Increase customer product awareness through social media, above-the-line, and below-the-line campaigns.
- Prepare business cases and obtain approvals for new liability products.
- Partner with project teams to oversee system integration and user acceptance testing (SIT & UAT) before and after product rollout.
- Support retail product management with new liability product implementation.
- Manage enhancements for existing liability products, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to boost sales.
- Lead governance activities aligned with Product Risk Governance forum requirements for liability products.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements and initiatives related to liability products.
- Provide market intelligence on competitors' retail liability products to retail teams.
- Coordinate with product leadership and People Function to design and deliver training and support sales strategies.
- Resolve customer complaints related to liability products in cooperation with customer service.
- Work with Technology teams to address and resolve system issues impacting retail liability products.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Customer Access teams to ensure accurate product pricing information across all channels and digital platforms.
- Conduct regular audits to verify compliance with sales processes and documentation standards.
- Identify training needs and skills gaps related to products and coordinate with Learning and Development to facilitate training that enhances product adoption and sales proficiency.
- Promptly report any identified risk incidents.
- Maintain thorough understanding of one’s role within end-to-end processes, as well as the associated risks and control measures.
- Adhere strictly to Absa’s policies and risk management guidelines, exhibiting sound judgment and accountability.
- Stay updated on regulatory changes and industry trends, understanding consumer behavior impacts relevant to the business.
- Complete all mandatory training within assigned deadlines.
Education
Applicants should hold National Diplomas or Advanced Certificates in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies.
