Job description
Role Overview and Responsibilities
The Leisure Assistant (Wet) role focuses on fostering a positive and collaborative work environment in alignment with the Charity's mission to improve lives. The position involves the careful oversight of the facilities ensuring the safety and well-being of all users, alongside actively supporting water-based activities.
Main Duties
- Promote a constructive workplace culture that reflects the Charity’s values of Making Life Better and i-care to boost morale, productivity, and performance.
- Take responsibility for securely supervising the leisure facilities and guaranteeing the health and safety of all visitors.
- Deliver vigilant, preventive lifeguarding throughout all pool sessions to ensure user safety.
- Execute emergency response plans promptly in case of accidents or injuries, performing water rescues and first aid as per training.
- Keep physical and lifesaving certifications up to date to satisfy Health & Safety regulations and High Life Highland standards, participating in required training sessions.
- Assist in supervising water and land-based activities to ensure their efficient and safe delivery.
- Organize and lead activities and classes as part of the centre's scheduled programming.
- Conduct swimming lessons within the Swimming Programme when needed, compensated according to the appropriate pay grade.
- Promote safe and appropriate behaviour among facility users.
- Maintain equipment safety and cleanliness, ensuring proper setup of fixed and portable items.
- Coordinate with other users and staff for smooth daily centre operations.
- Stay current with all relevant procedural documentation.
- Report suggestions for enhancing centre efficiency and effectiveness to management.
- Ensure the facility is cleaned according to established standards.
- Handle reception and cashier responsibilities which include admission processing and cash handling.
- Facilitate inductions for the Fitness Suite users.
- Actively promote and sell High Life Memberships to prospective customers.
- Deliver excellent levels of customer service consistently.
- Commit to ongoing professional development and contribute positively to the continuous improvement initiatives across High Life Highland.
- Attend all required training, whether online or in-person.
- Support sustainability efforts by minimizing waste and upholding environmental values in all tasks performed.
- Assist other departments and teams within High Life Highland with projects, training, or during staffing shortages to maintain seamless cross-functional operations.
- Adhere strictly to organizational policies, including GDPR, health and safety protocols, and perform requisite checks, promptly escalating any concerns to management.
- Maintain knowledge of role-specific risk management responsibilities according to HLH Risk Policy and related guidelines.
- Completion of a Disclosure Scotland PVG check is mandatory for this position.
