Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Lead Infrastructure Engineer skilled at transforming high-level architectural designs into thorough, actionable implementation plans. This role requires providing technical direction and mentorship during the build and deployment stages.
The position is very hands-on and ideal for a professional who thrives on removing obstacles for teams, enhancing delivery standards, and ensuring infrastructure setups are secure, well-structured, and ready for operational demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze solution designs and develop detailed, step-by-step implementation strategies including necessary dependencies.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to troubleshoot issues, improve, and fine-tune infrastructure deployments.
- Upgrade and deploy infrastructure systems and services, ensuring they integrate seamlessly and perform efficiently.
- Advocate for security best practices, governance standards, and effective cost management throughout project delivery.
- Align all implementations with the principles outlined in the Well-Architected Framework.
- Create thorough documentation and facilitate knowledge sharing and skill development within teams.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven track record of leading infrastructure engineering projects from inception to completion.
- Expertise in converting architectural blueprints into detailed, executable engineering plans.
- Advanced troubleshooting and optimization skills within complex infrastructure environments.
- Strong focus on governance including security-first approaches, cost management, and operational rigor.
- Excellent communication abilities to engage effectively with engineers, architects, and senior leadership.
- Meticulous in documentation and committed to knowledge transfer and capability building.

This is a contract role based onsite in Auckland, New Zealand with hybrid working arrangements. Applicants must already be located in New Zealand and possess valid working rights to be considered.
