Lead Developer

Overview

Cognizant is seeking a Lead Developer with a solid foundation in Python, Elasticsearch, FastAPI, Python scripting, and related technologies. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in building custom search and analytics applications, especially utilizing FastAPI and Elasticsearch frameworks, along with broad experience working with diverse data sources including large data systems like Databricks and Snowflake.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop RESTful APIs by querying data efficiently from Elasticsearch.
• Use Java and Spring Boot to build robust, enterprise-level microservices.
• Develop, secure, and maintain Java Spring Boot-based REST APIs, following best practices in API design including versioning, pagination, and error management.
• Integrate Elasticsearch and other backend systems with Java-based microservices.
• Implement AI and Machine Learning solutions on Elasticsearch platforms.
• Analyze and optimize Elasticsearch performance by tuning indexing, queries, caching, and JVM heap size to meet service level agreements.
• Create reusable index templates, custom analyzers, and scripts for various data types and application requirements.
• Work collaboratively with data engineers to build efficient data pipelines and ETL processes that enhance data quality and consistency.
• Provide guidance to application developers regarding complex search filters, aggregations, and query optimization techniques.
• Explore and prototype new Elasticsearch features such as AI-powered relevance tuning and graph capabilities.
• Leverage cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure, in development efforts.
• Demonstrate foresight in identifying project risks and steer the team accordingly.
• Understand and contribute to the full software development lifecycle including DevOps, CI/CD, and build automation.
• Manage source control using tools like Git and Bitbucket, and handle package management with private repositories like JFrog.
• Adhere to secure coding standards, compliance requirements, and open-source licensing considerations.
