About the Role
Join the Opal Ridge Enhanced Care team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia as a Laundry Aide with Shannex Incorporated, a reputable healthcare organization known for fostering meaningful connections and better living. This position involves managing laundry operations efficiently and safely within a supportive environment dedicated to improving residents' lives.
Responsibilities
- Separate laundry based on type and soil levels, selecting appropriate washing formulas and cycles.
- Operate commercial washing machines and dryers, ensuring correct settings for various loads.
- Sort cleaned laundry into proper baskets or racks, count linens per quota, and organize resident clothing carefully.
- Collect soiled laundry and deliver cleaned items across the facility using carts.
- Inspect laundry for damage such as tears or missing buttons and forward items for repair.
- Maintain cleanliness of laundry area by sweeping, mopping, and disinfecting surfaces.
- Perform additional assigned duties as required.
- Endure standing for long periods and handle lifting items up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with infection control protocols and garment care techniques.
- Experience operating commercial laundry equipment.
- Ability to complete a clear criminal record and, if applicable, vulnerable sector checks.
- First Aid and CPR certification is advantageous.
- Previous experience in retirement living or long-term care facilities preferred.
