Based in Singapore, BullionStar is a premier dealer in precious metals including gold, silver, and platinum. We cater to a wide spectrum of customers from novices to institutional investors through our physical showroom, e-commerce platform, and secure vault storage. Operating as an independently owned, founder-driven, and agile company, we emphasize quick decision-making and direct impact without bureaucratic layers.
Role Purpose
The IT Manager role is critical for maintaining and securing the firm's IT environment, which supports live business operations involving showroom management, online commerce, and wealth protection systems. This hands-on manager will lead a small IT team, ensuring the reliability and security of our infrastructure and daily IT functions while personally contributing to technical tasks. Reporting to the Head of IT and Infrastructure and CTO, the role requires autonomy and accountability for project delivery and operational success.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily IT operations to maintain uninterrupted business functionality.
- Manage and upkeep the IT infrastructure including servers, networks, and end-user hardware.
- Handle local office network infrastructure with specialized expertise in Ubiquiti equipment and Level 3 networking troubleshooting.
- Administer business software applications, including productivity suites and licensing compliance.
- Implement and sustain security protocols, access management, and risk identification.
- Ensure adherence to Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) and company data protection policies, supporting audit processes.
- Maintain monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures, leading incident management responses.
- Manage the lifecycle of staff hardware encompassing procurement, provisioning, and secure onboarding/offboarding.
- Conduct system patching, upgrades, and infrastructure-related projects including hardware installations.
- Provide hands-on IT support and daily technical leadership for the IT team.
- Directly engage in hardware setup, repairs, server racking, and complex problem resolution.
- Coordinate with external IT vendors and manage procurement in alignment with budget plans.
- Create and maintain thorough documentation for all systems, processes, and configurations.
- Maintain an accurate IT asset register reflecting equipment locations and allocations.
- Collaborate with Technology, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure business-critical systems remain operational.
Candidate Profile
- Demonstrated, practical experience managing IT infrastructure components including servers and networks.
- Strong networking acumen with expertise in Ubiquiti gear and complex network troubleshooting.
- Previous leadership or mentoring experience in an IT team environment.
- High regard for security and confidentiality, particularly handling privileged access in sensitive environments.
- Exceptional organizational and reliability skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Available for on-site presence and able to respond promptly to operational needs.
- Innovative mindset with willingness to introduce and deploy new technologies including AI-based tools.
- Citizenship or legal right to work in Singapore along with willingness to undergo background and security screening.
- Formal educational credentials are secondary to proven technical capability and leadership drive.
Work Conditions and Compensation
- Location: Singapore, onsite presence required.
- Working days: Monday through Friday, 5-day workweek.
- Salary: Up to SGD 5,000 per month.
- Additional compensation: 13th-month salary bonus and a variable bonus of up to 3 months.
Role Distinctions
This position requires active involvement in IT operations rather than remote or purely managerial duties. It combines leadership with hands-on technical responsibilities rather than being a simple help-desk or purely supervisory role. Ownership and personal responsibility for IT system uptime and issue resolution are essential.
