Role Overview

In the role of Interior Designer, you will be central to designing and delivering innovative commercial workplaces from initial concept through to construction completion. Responsibilities include crafting workplace design concepts, producing detailed documentation, coordinating consultant input, and guaranteeing the utmost standards in design and technical quality. This position involves close collaboration with internal Design, Pre-Construction, and Construction teams, as well as direct communication with clients, consultants, project managers, contractors, and joinery manufacturers throughout each project phase.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create innovative workplace designs and effective space planning solutions.
  • Develop polished design presentations and comprehensive client documentation.
  • Prepare thorough construction documentation leveraging Archicad software.
  • Coordinate consultant data, services, and technical documents efficiently.
  • Specify appropriate finishes, fixtures, furniture, lighting, and material selections.
  • Generate bespoke joinery documentation and detailed drawings.
  • Participate in client presentations, design workshops, and project meetings.

  • Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, the National Construction Code (NCC), accessibility regulations, and client requirements.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in commercial workplace, office fit-out, or refurbishment projects.
  • Expert-level skills with Archicad (mandatory).
  • Familiarity with Twinmotion, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and additional presentation tools is highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction documentation and detailing methods.
  • Proficiency in preparing joinery and custom furniture documentation.
  • Understanding of NCC, Australian Standards, accessibility requirements, and commercial building regulations.
  • Excellent capabilities in space planning, workplace strategy, and interior detailing.
  • Deep knowledge of materials, finishes, and furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) specification.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate consultants and work collaboratively with project managers, estimators, contractors, and suppliers.
