Job description

Role Overview

The Inspection - QC II position at Baker Hughes focuses on ensuring the quality and conformity of manufactured components through precision inspection activities. This includes developing and fine-tuning measurement programs for Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), interpreting engineering drawings with an emphasis on geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and supporting continuous improvement efforts to uphold stringent quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and enhance CMM programs specifically for Carl Zeiss machines to ensure measurement accuracy.
  • Perform detailed dimensional inspections on components using CMM tools while strictly adhering to GD&T guidelines.
  • Analyze and interpret engineering drawings to establish inspection parameters and tolerances.
  • Maintain comprehensive inspection documentation, including generation of CMM inspection reports.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to measurement methods or equipment.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to address quality challenges and propose improvements.
  • Verify that all produced units comply with internal quality procedures, engineering specs, and customer requirements.
  • Initiate corrective actions in cases of recurring quality deviations.
  • Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies as well as quality programs and training assignments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma in mechanical engineering or a related technical qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quality inspection of machine parts.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Hands-on experience with various inspection and testing methods, including visual checks, dimensional measurements, hardness testing, CMM operation, NDT, and shear testing.
  • Solid practical knowledge of CMM machines.
  • Experienced in using metrology hand tools and gauges.
  • Detail-focused, with excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated logical and thorough problem-solving approach toward complex quality issues.

Working Conditions and Schedule

  • This is a full-time, on-site position at the Singapore location.
  • The role operates on a two-shift basis: Morning shift from 7:30 AM to 3:45 PM and Afternoon shift from 3:45 PM to 11:45 PM.
