ALS is a global leader in scientific testing and data analysis, dedicated to building a healthier future through precise geochemical sample preparation and analytical procedures. Our European hub laboratory is located in Loughrea, Co. Galway, Ireland.
Role Overview
We are seeking ICP Technicians to join our ICP Department. This position involves operation and management of analytical instruments including AAS, ICPAES, ICPMS among others, as well as performing laboratory routines adhering to stringent quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine laboratory operations involving analytical instruments such as AAS, ICPAES, ICPMS or related equipment.
- Adhere strictly to established analytical methodologies and procedures without unauthorized deviations or errors.
- Effectively manage time to ensure laboratory activities meet quality standards and throughput targets.
- Identify and report anomalies in analytical test results to supervisors using troubleshooting skills.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory to prescribed standards.
- Monitor and manage consumable stocks to prevent shortages.
- Oversee maintenance and calibration of equipment and instruments to keep them functional and precise.
- Complete and maintain accurate records in compliance with ISO 17025, INAB, and internal quality management system requirements.
Experience and Qualifications
- Previous laboratory experience is an advantage but not mandatory.
- A science degree is required, preferably with a chemistry focus.
Work Hours and Contract Terms
The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, initially offered as a 12-month fixed term contract with the prospect of a permanent contract upon successful completion. The role involves shift rotations between day, evening, and night shifts upon full training. Alternatively, fixed evening shifts with occasional night shift rotation are available. Training will occur during day or evening shifts without initial rotation.
