Job description

About the Role

Our client, a reputable multi-site national wholesale distribution company known for its employee-centered culture and strong presence across Canada, is looking for an experienced Human Resources Partner Manager based in Greater Vancouver, BC to lead their HR department. This leadership role is not a conventional HR position focused mainly on policies and administration; instead, it emphasizes fostering a people-first culture that values and connects employees across all branches.

During the initial 12 to 18 months, the role duties will be divided roughly into 60% culture-building and 40% HR operational tasks. Over time, this will shift to about 70% focus on People & Culture activities, including employee engagement and talent development, with 30% on HR operations to cultivate a unified, high-performing organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead the People & Culture function to create a supportive employee experience across all branches.
  • Manage end-to-end recruitment and talent acquisition efforts, enhancing the employer brand and candidate experience.
  • Develop and execute a standardized onboarding program to ensure new hires are prepared for long-term success.
  • Implement talent management programs encompassing career development, coaching, succession planning, and learning initiatives.
  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative "One Team" culture within head office and nine branches across six provinces.
  • Promote employee engagement, recognition, diversity and inclusion, along with internal communications that enhance culture and retention.
  • Design and oversee a fair, company-wide performance management program supported by the ADP HRMS platform.
  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the ADP HRMS as the key organizational people management system.
  • Create pragmatic HR policies, procedures, and programs that align with company growth and uphold a people-first approach.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on employee relations, workforce planning, organizational development, and change management.
  • Ensure compliance with provincial and federal employment laws in collaboration with payroll, legal counsel, and business leadership.
  • Maintain a consistent employee experience across all locations to embody the company's people-first philosophy.

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least 7 years of progressive HR experience including leadership or managerial roles.
  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CHRP, CPHR, or similar recognized HR designation considered a plus.
  • Proven track record in developing or improving HR programs, processes, and systems in growing organizations.
  • Direct hands-on experience with HRIS or HRMS implementations or enhancements; familiarity with ADP preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment laws and HR best practices across multiple provinces.
  • Demonstrated success in leading talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, learning and organizational development initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong coaching abilities and stakeholder management at all organizational levels.
  • Proactive, hands-on leadership style combining strategic vision with practical, solution-driven action.
