About the Role

Join Sainsbury's as a Home Delivery Driver where you'll be a vital part of our store operations, delivering customers' groceries right to their doorsteps. Our stores are dynamic and fast-paced, integral to the local community by offering excellent value, quality, and customer service. Your role is essential in fulfilling online orders accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a 3.5 tonne van to transport groceries safely and punctually to customers' homes.
  • Perform vehicle checks ensuring the van is clean, secure, roadworthy, and delivery cases are properly fastened.
  • Engage with customers courteously, assist with inquiries or substitutions, and communicate any delivery delays promptly.
  • Develop thorough knowledge about company products, services, and promotions to advise customers effectively.
  • Assist with store duties when not out on delivery runs.

Candidate Profile

  • Must be at least 18 years old with a valid UK or EU driving license held for over 12 months and fewer than 6 penalty points.
  • Complete an online driving risk assessment as part of the recruitment process, followed by a practical driving assessment upon hire.
  • Eligible to work legally in the UK.
  • Demonstrate proficiency driving larger vehicles through various environments, including residential and rural areas.
  • Thrive in a high-energy, fast-moving environment, showing initiative and the ability to solve problems independently and within a team.
  • Adaptability to store work and eagerness to learn new skills across different areas supported by provided training.
  • Comfortable using digital technology and tools related to the role.
  • Physically capable of handling shopping containers weighing up to 15kg.
