Role Overview

The Head of Fire & Safety will lead comprehensive health and safety initiatives, fostering a safe working environment across all organizational levels. This leadership role encompasses ensuring compliance with safety standards, conducting audits and inspections, managing fire safety operations, and cultivating a safety-first culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote health and safety programs involving employees at all tiers within the organization.
  • Organize and carry out Health & Safety meetings, audits, and inspections to ensure adherence to standards, assess performance, pinpoint corrective needs, and execute follow-up reviews.
  • Oversee plant activities with strict adherence to safe work procedures and compliance with health and safety guidelines.
  • Design and implement workplace health and safety plans compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Set objective-based Key Result Areas (KRAs) for the Site Health & Safety Team.
  • Conduct training sessions and presentations focused on health and safety and accident prevention.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly Health & Safety Management Information System (MIS) reports.
  • Regularly review non-conformance reports from health and safety audits, ensuring corrective measures are implemented.
  • Achieve full compliance with all relevant health & safety legislation and company policies.
  • Ensure the regular execution of mock fire drills.
  • Investigate workplace accidents and incidents to determine causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Lead the DISHA business transformation project focused on safety improvements.
  • Assign and oversee fire prevention and firefighting responsibilities across shifts.
  • Supervise firefighting operations and ensure effective fire protection arrangements at the plant for daily operations.
  • Guarantee optimal performance of shift-based fire prevention and firefighting tasks.
  • Implement and maintain Health & Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • Ensure contractors and contract workers comply with all health and safety norms.
  • Drive business excellence projects such as 5S and Integrated Management Systems (IMS).
  • Promote and maintain a robust health and safety culture throughout the organization.

Educational Qualifications

Essential:

  • Graduation in Physics or Chemistry
  • B.E / B.Tech in Safety & Fire
  • Advanced Diploma in Industrial Health & Safety

Preferred:

  • M.E / M.Tech in Safety & Fire
  • Postgraduate degree in Physics or Chemistry
  • Advanced Diploma in Industrial Health & Safety
  • Sub-officer Fire Course certification
  • NEBHOSH or IOSH certifications
