Job Summary

Situated in Nigeria, this position requires collaboration with the Facilities Manager and priesthood leadership to carry out minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, landscaping, and deep cleaning tasks. The handyman will keep detailed records of supplies purchased and used. Familiarity with the Facilities Manager group's work order system is essential. The role may include overseeing contractors and reporting on skill levels. Responsibilities involve upkeep and light repairs including fixing broken appliances, maintaining interior and exterior spaces, painting, carpentry, grounds maintenance, and installation of new equipment or furniture. Additionally, the role supports building preservation efforts to extend the facility's lifespan through effective operations and maintenance standards.

Key Duties

• Conduct minor repairs such as painting, roof patching, plumbing, generator upkeep, tile and gypsum board fixing, and electrical assistance.
• Support member care by managing supplies, providing training, and maintaining equipment.
• Perform cleaning duties to keep meeting spaces and grounds orderly; exhibit strong planning and purchasing skills.
• Monitor projects, inspect work quality, ensure workplace safety, and coordinate with the Strategic Relationship Specialist on procurement and business decisions.
• Repair locks, hinges, woodwork, drywall, and do minor wall covering and small painting jobs; maintain motors, engines, and grounds care machines.
• Maintain safety standards onsite by identifying and reporting hazards to the Facilities Manager.
• Attend meetings or training sessions as required to enhance technical expertise.
• Carry out any additional tasks assigned by supervisors.

Candidate Profile and Qualifications

• Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and hold a valid Temple recommend.
• Possession of CTC II or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Building Construction, Electricals, or a related field is required.
• A minimum of three years’ experience in facilities maintenance covering electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and deep cleaning.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with tactful interaction with priesthood leaders, vendors, and staff.
• Physically capable of climbing ladders, stairs, crawling, bending, stooping, squatting, and reaching overhead for maintenance tasks.
• Knowledgeable about using industrial cleaning chemicals safely.
• Experienced in operating both manual and powered equipment and tools needed for repairs.
• Computer proficient, with the ability to use MS Office, relevant software, web programs, and wireless technology effectively.
