Overview

We are seeking a driven and responsible General Manager to join our Asian restaurant, XIAO, in Cologne. You will independently oversee the management of a XIAO restaurant, acting like an entrepreneur to support the leadership team, ensure smooth daily operations, and deliver an exceptional guest experience. You will lead, train, and motivate your team to continuously improve results while applying a long-term perspective to all decisions. Enthusiasm for the XIAO brand and the ability to inspire others with it are essential.

Key Duties

Manage and lead a XIAO restaurant generating 4-5 million Euros in net annual revenue, serving around 150,000 guests yearly with a team of about 60 employees
Take full operational responsibility for the restaurant
Recruit new staff and build a pipeline of emerging talent
Develop and implement training programs for staff including new hires
Ensure compliance with company policies and maintain safety and quality standards
Manage inventory efficiently and optimize staffing levels
Plan personnel schedules effectively
Guarantee restaurant profitability and functionality through clear goals and KPIs, applying measures when necessary
Oversee professional guest relations
Facilitate communication between the restaurant and corporate management
Collaborate with internal departments such as HR, marketing, purchasing, and controlling
Engage and communicate with external partners and consumers

Requirements

Proven experience in system catering with several years in a comparable managerial role, ideally as a restaurant manager
Experience working in buffet-style concepts
Good command of English
Strong operational skills combining hospitality and entrepreneurship with inspiring and positive team leadership
Solid business administration knowledge
Entrepreneurial mindset and analytical thinking
Excellent organizational and time management skills with prioritization ability
High resilience and strong motivation to perform
Proactive and responsible, capable of long-term strategic thinking
Strong interpersonal skills, communication ability, and a service-oriented attitude
