Financial Controller (Contract)

Role Overview

We seek an experienced Financial Controller to lead the company's accounting activities and financial reporting, directing the shift from outsourced bookkeeping toward a fully internal finance operation. Reporting to the CFO, you will be responsible for managing the General Ledger, supervising bookkeeping processes, delivering accurate financial statements, and establishing scalable accounting workflows. Key Responsibilities

• Assume complete responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, and regulatory compliance of the General Ledger (GL).
• Oversee and update the Chart of Accounts.
• Lead the migration from external accounting services to an internal accounting framework.
• Manage monthly closing procedures, reconciliations, and validate financial information.
• Produce monthly financial statements and executive management reports.
• Analyze Profit & Loss statements and evaluate financial performance across various business units.
• Supervise the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
• Review payroll, invoices, expense claims, and vendor payments.
• Guide and support the bookkeeping team.
• Oversee cash flow monitoring and perform bank reconciliations.
• Coordinate activities related to payroll taxes, sales taxes, and year-end tax reporting.
• Ensure company accounting policies and financial controls are upheld.
• Maintain confidentiality when managing sensitive financial data.

Candidate Requirements

• Proven track record as a Financial Controller or Senior Accountant with complete ownership of the General Ledger.
• Extensive experience in monthly closing and financial statement preparation.
• Practical knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software.
• Experience managing accounting or bookkeeping personnel.
• Strong grasp of accounting standards and internal controls.
• High integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial matters.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical capabilities.
• Ability to work autonomously within a remote work environment.
• Advanced English communication skills, both verbal and written (C1/C2 level).

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in leading transitions or enhancements of accounting functions.
• Familiarity with project accounting tools like BigTime or similar.
• Experience in professional services, construction, architecture, engineering, or design sectors.
• Specialized experience in Luxury Architecture, Interior Design, or upscale residential design is highly valued.
• CPA or equivalent professional accounting accreditation is advantageous.

Additional Information

• This is a full-time contractor role with an initial trial period of three months, offering a potential for long-term engagement based on performance and company requirements.
• The position is fully remote, requiring availability during US business hours.
• Compensation ranges from $2000 to $4000 USD monthly.
