Job Location and Contract

This permanent role is based at the BIA Head Office in Kitwe, Zambia.

Role Purpose

The incumbent will oversee, coordinate, and monitor maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of BIA's buildings, equipment, utilities, and premises to ensure they are safe, functional, and aligned with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage preventive and corrective maintenance activities for infrastructure and buildings.
  • Support planning and execution of rehabilitation, renovation, and construction projects.
  • Carry out regular inspections of offices and facilities.
  • Identify maintenance needs and prepare corresponding work schedules.
  • Ensure timely management of repairs covering roofing, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and masonry.
  • Supervise cleaning processes within buildings and external surroundings to maintain a healthy work environment.
  • Oversee artisans, technicians, contractors, and maintenance personnel.
  • Validate quality and completion of maintenance tasks, certify the work, and recommend payments where applicable.
  • Ensure adherence to technical and safety standards.
  • Maintain compliance with occupational health and safety guidelines.
  • Conduct risk assessments and propose corrective actions.
  • Oversee environmental management practices within the facility premises.

Desired Knowledge and Experience

  • Familiarity with building maintenance procedures.
  • Basic understanding of construction and engineering concepts.
  • Project management capabilities.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and procurement processes.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office and maintenance management software.
  • Awareness of Zambian public service regulations and procurement protocols.

Candidate Profile

  • At least Grade 12 School Certificate or equivalent with five O levels.
  • A Diploma in Civil Works or related discipline.
  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience.
  • Membership in the Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ).
