Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Donor Recruiter to support blood donation drives and enhance donor engagement for the South African National Blood Service in East London. The role involves coordinating donor recruitment activities, handling queries, and assisting with promotional events to meet blood collection targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in donor recruitment pilot initiatives during specific blood drives.
- Respond to donor inquiries and complaints, reporting necessary follow-ups to the Donor Relations Practitioner.
- Provide input to Donor Relations Practitioner and Donor Educator to address educational needs such as informational talks.
- Assist in organizing donor marketing activities, including media events and award functions.
- Deliver and display advertising materials (flyers, posters, banners) before blood drives and ensure proper visibility through directional signage.
- Communicate with blood drive controllers or peer promoters to confirm logistics and arrangements.
- Coordinate with clinic supervisors to secure suitable venues if initial arrangements are inadequate and document adjustments appropriately.
- Recruit and educate donors to achieve collection goals while promoting risk awareness for safe blood supply.
- Welcome donors warmly, facilitate a positive donation experience, and provide necessary information pamphlets.
- Monitor blood drive flow to minimize donor wait times with guidance from supervisors.
- Offer refreshments and address customer service queries; defer medical inquiries to Clinic Supervisor.
- Support setup and breakdown of blood drive locations and maintain venue cleanliness.
- Promote ongoing campaigns to donors and assist in planning branch promotions, exhibitions, and shows.
- Submit weekly recruitment reports with suggestions to enhance blood drive outcomes.
- Maintain up-to-date personnel records, understand relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and complete required competencies.
- Attend meetings and training sessions to stay informed on field developments and facilitate knowledge sharing.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completed Grade 12 education.
- Certificate in Marketing or Public Relations of at least six months duration.
- Valid Code B manual driving license.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
- No prior experience required.
