Role Overview
Our client is seeking a Director of Facilities to lead the comprehensive Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) program across eight buildings within the Vincennes Community School Corporation in Vincennes, Indiana. This leadership position primarily operates during swing and night shifts. The role involves hands-on management of facilities services, supporting a longstanding collaboration with the district.
You will partner closely with the Superintendent and school administrators to ensure excellent communication, superior custodial supervision, and seamless execution of maintenance, landscaping, and renovation initiatives. Due to the varied operational scope, the position requires adaptability, strong relationship management skills, and proactive planning and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct IFM operations across eight district buildings, ensuring high standards in maintenance, custodial services, and grounds management.
- Lead and develop the team by promoting accountability, strong performance, and engagement.
- Act as the chief contact with the Superintendent, delivering transparent, proactive reporting and nurturing an excellent client relationship.
- Oversee district-wide renovation and construction projects in the capacity of owner's representative, coordinating with contractors and suppliers.
- Manage the profit and loss budget effectively, ensuring financial health, operational efficiency, and alignment with district objectives.
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in building and maintaining excellent client relationships, especially with senior district leadership.
- Solid experience in project management, particularly in overseeing renovations and construction as an owner's representative.
- Comprehensive knowledge of custodial and maintenance operations including grounds and high school sports field management.
- Exceptional adaptability and emotional intelligence to collaborate effectively with diverse district personnel.
- Hands-on leadership approach capable of anticipating needs, resolving issues proactively, and communicating clearly and confidently.
- Willingness to manage primarily daytime hours with occasional responsibilities during nights and weekends as required.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of management experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant functional experience.
Position Summary
- Responsible for directing all facets of facilities maintenance and property management at a single unit level.
- Oversees preventative maintenance and reactive repairs for specialized trades such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and utilities.
- Responsible for hiring, training, and supervision of staff, professionals, and management teams.
- Ensures safe and efficient working environments essential for optimal business operations.
- May supervise construction projects and manage core client services including grounds keeping, laundry, security, inventory, mail, and concierge services logistics.
