Role Responsibilities
- Manage and administer database systems focusing on Redis and Spanner platforms.
- Design and implement multi-region, active-active replication architectures, Redis Cluster setups, and integrations with stream-processing technology.
- Optimize and support distributed database environments, especially Google Spanner systems.
- Develop and sustain cloud-native database solutions on Google Cloud Platform or similar cloud services.
- Identify and resolve performance issues such as latency delays, CPU and memory overheads, and Out-Of-Memory (OOM) incidents; improve command pipelining and manage single-threaded event loops.
- Conduct in-depth debugging of data persistence problems including RDB/AOF inconsistencies, unstable connections, and distributed lock synchronization challenges.
- Maintain database safety protocols by assuring reliable security, backup, and disaster recovery plans.
- Troubleshoot and promptly fix any database-related problems to maintain system integrity.
- Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to enhance application responsiveness and scalability.
- Assist with database migrations between different platforms or environments.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Redis and Google Spanner databases.
- Familiarity with other database technologies including SQL Server, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, and MySQL is advantageous.
