Role Summary

The Data Scientist role involves creating, developing, and deploying sophisticated analytics and machine learning applications to extract valuable insights from extensive and complex datasets. The position requires collaboration with business stakeholders, project managers, and engineering teams to convert business problems into applicable data science solutions, blending hands-on analytic work, applied research, and client advisement.

Key Responsibilities

• Transform client challenges into precise analytical problem definitions and architectural solutions.
• Develop and refine end-to-end data science processes, including data acquisition, preprocessing, feature engineering, modelling, and deployment.
• Utilize statistical methods, machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), optimization, and simulation techniques to address business issues.
• Conduct rigorous model validation with clear justification of model selection and metrics.
• Create production-ready, scalable machine learning models.
• Implement analytics workflows using Python or R coupled with distributed computing frameworks like Apache Spark.
• Deploy and maintain models via containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Employ Large Language Models (LLMs) to develop Generative AI or Agentic AI applications as appropriate.
• Produce meaningful dashboards and visualizations to communicate insights effectively.
• Present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences and act as a trusted analytics advisor.
• Collaborate with project managers and technical leaders to update project status and refine requirements.
• Contribute to data architecture and engineering decisions supporting analytics use cases.
• Engage in Agile or Waterfall project teams to deliver data solutions.
• Participate and contribute knowledge within internal professional communities and mentor junior data scientists.

Required Qualifications

• Exceptional skill in conveying complex quantitative analyses in an actionable and concise way.
• Proven experience handling large-scale, high-dimensional structured and unstructured datasets.
• Expertise in feature selection and engineering for varied data types.
• Strong foundation in supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques.
• Advanced knowledge of statistics, NLP, optimization, and simulation methods.
• Proficient programming in Python and/or R; experienced with Apache Spark or equivalents.
• Experience implementing LLMs for Generative AI or Agentic AI development.
• Hands-on familiarity with data visualization software and libraries such as Tableau, Qlik, Plotly, ggplot2, or Shiny.
• Experience managing model deployment and lifecycle using Docker and Kubernetes.

Preferred Attributes

• Postgraduate academic qualifications such as a Master’s or PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Business Analytics, or related disciplines.
• Background in AI and data analytics consulting.
• Track record in delivering advanced analytics or applied research projects.
• Experience with cloud infrastructures and big data platforms like AWS, Azure, Hadoop, Spark, or Cloudera.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices in analytics delivery.
• Prior experience in software or application development.
• Exposure to deep learning, reinforcement learning, or graph-based analytics.
• Understanding of database modeling and data warehousing concepts.
