Overview

Horizons Cork invites applications for a Clerical Officer position within their administrative team. This office-based role includes front desk duties and requires exemplary communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and empathy for working within a disability service environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver office support by responding to queries and managing reception and telephone services.
  • Stay informed of relevant protocols and documentation.
  • Handle data management tasks including updating, validating, collating, and processing data accurately.
  • Maintain precise and current filing systems both electronically and physically.
  • Assist in preparing reports as required.
  • Support Service Managers, teams, service users, the public, and colleagues with timely information and assistance.
  • Manage all communications promptly and efficiently.
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned.
  • Represent Horizons professionally and positively.
  • Provide welcoming and professional service to service users, families, staff, and visitors.
  • Ensure data and records comply with GDPR and organizational policies.
  • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to enhance service delivery.
  • Offer general clerical support to management and the wider office team.

Candidate Requirements

  • Educational Qualifications: At minimum, five subjects passed at grade D (or pass) in Higher or Ordinary Level from the Leaving Certificate Examination, Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme, or Leaving Certificate Applied; or an equivalent standard examination; or possess relevant experience demonstrating equivalent skills.
  • Administrative aptitude and knowledge suitable for the role.
  • Good character and sound health to perform duties reliably.
  • At least one year of experience in a comparable busy office environment is essential.
  • Valid permission to live and work in Ireland at the application time.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant IT tools.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and empathy in a front-facing, high-activity setting.
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experience in a similar clerical role is advantageous.
  • Previous work experience in health, social care, or disability services is beneficial.
  • Commitment to the organizations’ values and a person-centered philosophy.

Employment Details and Benefits

  • 35-hour work week.
  • Salary based on the 15-point Clerical Officer pay scale effective from June 1, 2026, ranging from €31,618 to €48,927 annually; new hires start at the initial point.

Horizons may establish a panel valid for 12 months to fill future temporary or permanent full or part-time Clerical Officer III roles. The Department of Health & Children Consolidated Pay Scales apply.
