You will work on a rotating 7-day roster, with shifts generally scheduled between 6:30am–3:15pm and 8:30am–5:15pm.

What the role involves

In this position, you will help maintain the cleanliness, presentation, and welcoming atmosphere of Taronga Zoo’s grounds and facilities, supporting a visitor experience that meets the organisation’s high standards.

  • Carry out cleaning tasks across the zoo grounds and surrounding areas.
  • Keep public spaces, internal administrative buildings, and the car park presented to a very high standard.
  • Follow Taronga’s Customer Service Charter and contribute ideas to improve service quality.
  • Share Taronga’s education and conservation messages in ways that reflect the organisation’s values.
  • Work cooperatively within a high-performing team to support broader strategic goals.

  • Follow Work Health and Safety requirements and report incidents in line with Taronga’s WHS Charter.

What you need

Applicants should bring the following checks, clearances, and licences:

  • A current NSW driver licence, or the ability to have an existing licence formally recognised, including manual capability if applying for Cleaner Grade 3.
  • Tuberculosis screening.
  • Vaccinations for zoonotic diseases, in line with Taronga’s vaccination matrix, at your own cost.
  • A current paid NSW Working with Children Check, maintained at your own expense.

Benefits

  • Access to a flexible hybrid working model, with a mix of office, remote, and on-the-go work where applicable.
  • Complimentary passes for family and friends across Taronga’s Sydney and Dubbo zoos.
  • Free onsite parking outside peak periods.
  • Discounted accommodation rates across both sites.
  • Reduced prices on food and beverage purchases across the sites.
  • Discounted Fitness Passport access.
  • A lively social team environment with regular activities across the zoo.
  • Additional employee perks beyond those listed.
