Overview
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is the top executive responsible for driving Spectrum for Living's operational leadership and aligning the organization's strategic goals with excellent execution. Reporting to the President & CEO, the COO acts as a key operational partner with authority to ensure vision translates into measurable performance while maintaining operational excellence throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the organization's operational backbone including facilities management, IT, logistics, vendor contracts, risk and emergency preparedness, capital projects, and administrative services.
- Develop and maintain efficient, scalable systems that enhance service delivery and maximize performance and fiscal accountability.
- Collaborate with the President & CEO to implement the Strategic Plan, ensuring initiatives are well-executed and aligned with mission and long-term goals.
- Create organizational systems including performance metrics, accountability frameworks, and continuous improvement programs promoting innovation and growth.
- Lead Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Brand Management, and Development efforts to strengthen public image, stakeholder relationships, and philanthropic impact.
- Foster a culture emphasizing accountability, collaboration, innovation, operational rigor, and ongoing improvement.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and, when delegated, act with executive authority on behalf of the CEO with utmost integrity and professionalism.
Leadership and Strategy
- Provide strategic advice and operational insights to the President & CEO supporting executive decision-making.
- Steer the translation of strategic priorities into clear operational objectives, timelines, and accountability structures.
- Participate in the Executive Leadership Team addressing strategy, policy, risk management, and planning.
- Advise on operational capacity, infrastructure, risks, regulations, and business prospects.
- Represent the CEO as delegated, maintaining confidentiality and sound judgment.
Execution and Performance Management
- Implement and manage KPIs assigned by the President & CEO.
- Ensure approved strategic initiatives are executed effectively organization-wide.
- Develop detailed implementation plans defining objectives, milestones, resources, and measurable outcomes.
- Track progress toward goals and provide comprehensive executive reports with recommendations.
- Hold leadership accountable for meeting goals and operational standards.
- Address organizational barriers and inefficiencies promptly to sustain momentum.
- Promote cross-departmental cooperation to align enterprise-wide initiatives.
- Lead transformation efforts improving performance, service quality, efficiency, and capacity.
Qualifications and Experience
- Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
- Preferred: Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Healthcare Administration (MHA), Public Administration (MPA), Organizational Leadership, or related fields.
- An MBA is highly preferred.
Additional Information
- Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Position requires presence in the office; not remote.
- Discretionary incentive bonus offered.
