Job description

Role Overview

This position involves cleaning, maintaining, and sterilizing ward equipment and workspaces in compliance with infection control protocols. The role also ensures efficient communication across departments by handling delivery and collection tasks, and requires effective interaction with patients, their relatives, and hospital staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of work areas and medical equipment following infection control standards.
  • Manage interdepartmental communication, facilitating timely delivery and collection services as needed.
  • Engage constructively with patients, their families, and healthcare personnel.

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven knowledge of infection prevention standards and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills with hospital staff and the public.
  • Ability and readiness to function effectively within a team to foster a cooperative work environment.

Appointment Details

This fixed-term casual role is on an as-needed basis, starting immediately and lasting approximately 12 months. Hours will be negotiated with the successful candidate. This recruitment may also be used to appoint for similar vacancies over the following twelve months.

Salary and Benefits

The pay rate ranges from $59,668 to $65,185 per annum pro rata, plus a 12% superannuation contribution from the employer. Casual loading of 25% applies, equating to an hourly wage between $37.60 and $41.07 per hour. Salary scales align with the Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.

Employees can access salary packaging benefits including living expense options up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meal entertainment allowances annually, in addition to other eligible benefits.
