Cashier

About the Role

The Cashier position is vital in delivering prompt, courteous, and precise service to customers. This role involves handling checkout and return transactions efficiently and managing the Self-Checkout area. Cashiers are expected to actively acquire product and project knowledge to assist customers and recognize potential sales opportunities. Adherence to all company policies and protocols is necessary to reduce losses and maintain operational integrity.

A Head Cashier supports the Cashiers by overseeing register activities, approving price checks, markdowns, and transactions across various service points including mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental. The Head Cashier also addresses initial customer complaints and plays a part in supervising, coaching, and training Front End Associates, including onboarding new Cashiers and utilizing training resources to foster team development.

Responsibilities

• Deliver friendly, accurate, and fast customer service during checkout and returns.
• Manage and monitor the Self-Checkout area for smooth operation.
• Gain and apply product and project knowledge to provide customer information and identify sales opportunities.
• Comply with all policies aimed at minimizing shrinkage.
• For Head Cashiers: position and support Cashiers, expedite price checks, approve various Point of Sale transactions and markdowns.
• Serve as the first point of escalation for customer concerns.
• Assist in supervising, coaching, and training Front End Associates, including new Cashier onboarding.

Requirements

• Preferred: Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Cashier.
