CAD/BIM Operator 3 - Remote

Overview

Convergint is seeking a full-time CAD/BIM Operator to join an innovative and supportive team. This role involves preparing installation drawings for security systems based on engineered documents for construction or permitting purposes, contributing to a dynamic environment with opportunities for professional growth.

Role and Responsibilities

• Utilize customer-provided AutoCAD and Revit files to develop system installation drawings according to contract specifications and under guidance of the lead designer.
• Perform interference and clash detection to identify design conflicts and support project coordination efforts.
• Participate in weekly meetings and provide updates to the Lead Designer on progress.
• Modify BIM models as requested by clients, tracking revisions and coordinating with project managers for change order pricing when necessary.
• Create and compile 2D drawings to be integrated into BIM models.
• Manage 3D models to facilitate design coordination and obtain approvals from customers.
• Develop additional BIM objects (such as Revit families) when required.
• Assist project teams with visualizations and provide updated construction drawings reflecting change orders.
• Operate BIM software including AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks, as well as coordination, scheduling, and collaboration platforms.
• Communicate consistently with clients and subcontractors, gathering equipment data sheets and submitting RFIs as needed.
• Prepare as-built system drawings from onsite mark-ups with minimal supervision, handling complex issues escalated by less experienced operators.
• Assemble drawing packages, operation manuals, and system documentation for submission or permits.
• Review own work and that of junior colleagues for accuracy and quality.
• Distribute shop drawings and close-out documents to relevant departments and clients.
• Ensure timely completion of assigned drawings while potentially mentoring less experienced colleagues.
• Maintain project schedules and organize project folders and drawings.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proficient with the latest versions of AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks software.
• Advanced ability to interpret architectural and electrical layouts and detailed diagrams.
• Strong understanding of electrical and electronic theory and components.
• Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to meet client needs under pressure.
• Technical expertise related to security systems design and implementation.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication capabilities.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Competent in MS Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• At least seven years of experience using AutoCAD/BIM software.
• Minimum of five years of experience in the electronic security field.
• Computer-Aided Drafting Certificate is required.
• Revit for Architectural Design Professional Certification is mandatory.
• Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree is preferred.
