Role Overview and Responsibilities
We are seeking a specialist skilled in generating and validating CAD data using FreeCAD. The ideal candidate will create, revise, and verify precise parametric CAD models emphasizing geometric accuracy and adhering to engineering best practices. Responsibilities include developing a comprehensive library of mechanical parts, assemblies, and features to support AI dataset development and facilitate model training. The specialist will also apply Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) standards to ensure that models comply with real-world mechanical design criteria.
Additional duties involve conducting quality control checks of CAD data to identify and correct inconsistencies, maintaining thorough engineering documentation, and efficiently implementing feedback to enhance CAD deliverables according to project evolution. Optional use of Python scripting to automate and enrich the modeling process is encouraged. Documenting the workflows and decisions made during modeling is essential to guarantee reproducibility and transparency throughout dataset creation.
Qualifications and Candidate Profile
- At least two years of experience in mechanical design, CAD modeling, manufacturing, or industrial engineering, with proven expertise in FreeCAD or similar parametric CAD software.
- Strong skills in parametric modeling and mechanical design, aligned with recognized engineering principles.
- Competency in validating CAD data using GD&T for practical manufacturing applications.
- Understanding of industrial engineering concepts and standard manufacturing procedures.
- High attention to detail and a focus on delivering accurate and quality outputs.
- Proven ability to prepare detailed engineering documentation understandable by both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Python scripting capabilities for CAD automation and enhancement are advantageous but not mandatory.
